A pleasant morning strolling the old Portuguese city within the walls photographed yesterday, and a small segment of the ramparts complete with original 16th century cannons. The fort is the second oldest intact Portuguese fort outside Europe, the oldest being Elmina, which we visited in Ghana in 2019.
Later in the market opposite the entrance, we bought dried figs off a string, and lunched on barbecued saucisse (sausage) in a round bread. Both vendors handled the food bare-handed, something we have grown accustomed to on our travels. Don't choose developing destinations if you are vol fiemies (fussy).
Charl and I have decided not to stress about our slow pace down the coast. To achieve our planned route through Morocco before our visa expires, we need to average 250km per week. We are not yet capable of that. If needs be, we will hop a bus or train…
