10 March 2023, El Jadida, 22.64km
Nabil’s room R264.34 [DH149.18]
We are in horse country. Horses being exercised on the beach, horse artwork along the shore, horse adverts, a hippodrome and horse (zebra) crossings over the N1.
We were not sure we would be allowed to cycle the N1, but the policeman at the Azemmour end of it simply placed his hand over his heart in greeting as we passed him.
Aches notwithstanding, it was a great 22km to El Jadida complete with its original fortified city. Wiki: "... built by the Portuguese at the beginning of the 16th century and named Mazagan (Mazagão in Portuguese), was given up by the Portuguese in 1769 and incorporated into Morocco. El Jadida's old city sea walls are one of the Seven Wonders of Portuguese Origin in the World."
We met our first cycle tourer - young Rika who departed Germany for Portugal in August...
