A great day on quiet roads in excellent condition with the last 6km on a cycle path made bumpy by tree roots beneath the tar.
We are sleeping in a tiny wooden cabin at a large campsite near a popular thermal area.
We did 60km putting us within reach of Szeged tomorrow and the Romanian consulate the day after.
Our route was flat again, passing through farmland (asparagus, corn, sorghum, plums, grapes, sunflowers), with small copses of trees casting shadows on the road.

When we departed Budapest, Arena campsite gave us a bottle of Hungarian Tokaji dessert wine, which Charl enjoyed last night. "Hungary has several wine regions producing among others the worldwide famous white dessert wine Tokaji and the red Bull's Blood." I doubt we got the "worldwide famous" version.

Now and then we encounter a sign with "old Hungarian" thereon (see below). When Hungary became a kingdom ("The Principality of Hungary emerged as a Christian kingdom upon the coronation of the first king Stephen I at Esztergom around the year 1000; his family (the Árpád dynasty) led the monarchy for 300 years."), the Latin alphabet was adopted and old Hungarian fell mostly into disuse. There is some debate about this, but the script is probably derived from the old Turkic alphabet. Popular revival: "The revival has become part of a significant ideological nationalist subculture present not only in Hungary (largely centered in Budapest), but also amongst the Hungarian diaspora, particularly in the United States and Canada."
As Charl says, we won't be here long enough to make sense of it!
