This was how it was with travel: one city gives you gifts, another robs you. One gives you the heart’s affections, the other destroys your soul. Cities and countries are as alive, as feeling, as fickle and uncertain as people. Their degrees of love and devotion are as varying as with any human relation. Just as one is good, another is bad. - Roman Payne

Today was to be a clean-the-bikes-catch-up-the-blog day. Charl did his bit; I was less diligent. We also spent a hefty portion of the morning and evening at Le Chateau restaurant near the Ancien Marché (old market), eating well and meeting with and chatting to fellow cyclist, Jim Bennett (transglobalist.com). American by birth, when not on his bike, Jim now resides in Nepal. He has been biking west Africa for two years. For breakfast we thoroughly enjoyed bratkatoffeln (German fried potatoes with egg, bacon, ham and pickles); for dinner I had a Nicoise salad and Charl a burger.
