I heard an airplane passing overhead. I wished I was on it. - Charles Bukowski
2 October 2019, Kara (side trip to Koutammakou)
Hotel Mira (Alcor Group) 6,000XOF (R150)
WhatsApp: FABULOUS day during which we visited Koutammakou village and its exceptional mud houses, and then the local market where we imbibed sorghum beer from a calabash bowl. Houses are multi-storey with rooms for food prep and cooking, sheep, chickens and the family dog, dry goods storage and sleeping. The wives sleep in the small hut on the roof with the tiny opening (see pic of young woman crawling out; you have to go in feet first on your tummy). It is a Unesco site, so should be known / knowable. It was a special day...
Photo: Calabash of sorghum beer. Red cheeks a result, not of alcohol, but of too much sun.
