Camping Torremolinos €29.50 [R599]

It was a beautiful day. Hot but not too hot; humid but not too humid; a coolness on the sea breeze but not too windy.
Again we cycled a range of "roads".
We have come to understand that the cement path beside the autovia crash barrier is an intentional walkway allowing pedestrians access to bridges over the motorway and the shops and homes on the other side. Or access to the beach. Or access to a bus stop and the local buses plying their trade along this busy route. At times, the path is difficult for cyclists as it can be very narrow, particularly where it splits around street lights or is blocked by overhanging bushes.
Through Fuengirola we cycled at times on a dedicated cycle path, but mainly on a slow-moving beach road, which was lovely. We even found a shady spot under a palm tree for our picnic lunch. We did not cycle the promenade today as Sunday cycling there is prohibido.
Between Fuengirola and Torrequebrada, we actually cycled a normal road that stretched for many relatively fast-moving kms. On the whole, however, the routes we travelled can only be done slowly so, although we did only 35km on reasonably easy terrain to Camping Torremolinos, it took us much of the day...
We will spend two nights here while we investigate train and bus options to speed up our progress through Spain.

Spain's campsites are an interesting mix of permanent, multi-month and one-night-stand occupants. The permanents purchase a plot with either a cottage or large mobile home on it and pay a fee for the communal services. Many display a fondness for garden gnomes. Outside one permanent cottage under pine trees with a lovely flowering garden, was a sign which read Spoiled dogs and their staff live here. The multi-monthers summer here. Others like us simply pass through.
