Melrose Beach R1762.81 [DH1000]

Both Charl and I have found all the weight we lost and mislaid all the fit we gained in 2019. Back on the bikes three years older, we're in for an ocean of pain!
Just three metres from our hostel door was a permanent street vendor with a glass fronted mobile stall and a narrow bench either side a narrow street. He had a range of fresh produce on display, both meats and veg. His many clients would select what they wanted cooked to fill a fresh bread roll and would sit and enjoy his offering while watching the (mainly foot) traffic pass.
When we asked him to take a photo of us, he proved to be an artist, squatting for a more interesting angle than usual.

We had expected a tough day, but had not anticipated having to spend several hours hunting down accommodation just 27km from Casa. The only hotel in Tamaris is closed for renovation,  so we have taken refuge in a budget busting Airbnb apartment far larger and more luxurious than we need. In truth, we can complain neither about the weather nor terrain. We wheeled our bikes out of the medina, then cycled along the city wall to the mosque where we picked up and followed the coast road south beside the Atlantic. Charl's flag illiciting calls of "South Africa" from shopkeepers and joggers. We averaged under 8km per hour and everything hurts, but our first day back on the bikes is done and dusted and we are safe.
