OK, we have unmuddled ourselves and worked out that we are unlikely to go hungry provided we adapt to local timing or frequent tourist hotspots.
Unbeknownst to us, "Morocco is on permanent Daylight Saving Time (DST) most of the year. But for Ramadan, the country sets the clocks back 1 hour, making sunset 1 hour earlier".
When we wandered out after sunset in search of food yesterday, we thought it was around 8pm, the time at which many Moroccans eat dinner; in fact, it was only 7pm. Walking home from our soup dinner, we saw restaurants beginning to set out pavement chairs for customers. And this morning, we were served coffee at a restaurant clearly catering for tourist bus trade, and on the outskirts of Chichaoua got a full lunch. The country flags flapping outside the lunch venue were a hint and a beacon!
We cycled under 30km today. If we can manage our planned 50km tomorrow, we will be in Marrakech the day after.
Not much of note happened today, except that a kid on a donkey decided to accompany us from the edge of a small settlement to the turnoff to his home. He rode bareback, sitting far back on the donkey's haunches, his hands clutching at long brown hair. So for some distance we were treated to the sound of clip-clopping on our right.
And we were a little taken aback by the number of stone farmers! Except for occasional Argan or olive groves, the scene is dry and stoned.
