6 June, Pamukkale
Dort Mevsim Hotel 60TL (breakfast
included)
Another long, lazy day,
which we spent washing mud from panniers and bikes, replacing yet another
broken spoke on Charl’s back wheel, and making plans for the next section, a
daunting distance through mountains with few accommodation options. Our stops
on the road are determined by terrain, which dictates how far we can cycle, and
by whether or not accommodation is available. This combination on occasion
means we cycle shorter distances than we could in fact manage; on occasion it
may leave us with nowhere to lay our weary bodies. We have been told one can sometimes
hire private rooms in small villages, but we have not yet had to test this
possibility. We met a man who in his youth had been
infatuated with Barbara Barnard. He said Chris Barnard was “crazy” to divorce
such a “beautiful woman”.
