We slept 11 hours last night after our meal at the charming Coral Tree, and lazed away the day. Driving first up the long, steep hill to view the town and the dolomite pillars in the Valley of Desolation – mom and dad reminiscing about their youth here. Then to all the places they / we lived. Then to the Kliphuis (c1870) for tea and cake. We were joined in the evening by a gift-bearing (delicious, self-made droëwors – half ostrich, half springbok) Rotarian and later by friends en route to the Oyster Festival in Knysna. Relaxing, and just what we needed.
