Biking Poland
3 July 2023, Chełmsko Śląskie, 42.35km
Noclegi 240zł [R1077]
We are not in the Czech Republic as planned. We are spending our last night in Poland just a little north of the border in the small town, Chełmsko Śląskie.
There was no real reason to stop, but no real reason not to. We had been unable to book accommodation in our hoped for destination, but there were several options still open to us there. And although we had climbed some sizeable hills, we were tired not exhausted.
Having decided to stop early rather than pushing on, we were surprised to find that our first three accommodation options in Chełmsko Śląskie were fully booked, so we are busting the budget at a beautiful guest house and loving it.

During our lunch break at a picnic table on the edge of the forest, a trucker arrived to collect two logs - it was interesting to watch the loading process.
Also, on more than one occasion, our speed was demonstrated to us by a digital display mechanism. If you are travelling too fast, it displays your speed in red accompanied by a red frowny face. My speed of 20kph earned a green smiley face.
And in the town of Mieroszów, we were accosted by the Deputy Mayor and the local photographer who wanted to know about our doings, and gifted us with bottled water, postcards, information brochures and an enormous fridge magnet.

It was a stunning ride, either on beautifully-crafted cycle paths or quiet country roads. Even route 35, very busy yesterday, was calm and little-trafficked today. We cycled through densely-treed hills in cool weather. Lovely.
