Poor Charl. Only one beer since arriving in Morocco, at Rick's Cafe in Casablanca. This evening he saw beer advertised at the Carrefour supermarket, so we headed there after dinner. We encountered six youngsters studying the beers on offer, but walking away with none. Then discovered why. Each was alcohol-free. Shame!
Of the around 40km done today, 4 or 5 were added in the hunt for a bed. We had not pre-booked a place as we could not find something online within our budget and hoped that within sizeable Safi (last pic) we might run across a suitable cheapie. No such luck. Our first choice, advertised as a 2.5-star, was closed. Our second choice turned us away, refusing to allow us to park the bikes. Our third option was fully booked. The fourth took us in at more than we wanted to spend, but much to our delight.
We awoke to our first windless morning on the bikes, cloudy and cool - ideal cycling conditions, in fact. The R301 continued its undulating course, our under-10kph average attesting to lots of mild climbing.
I have fallen in love with the stone walls defining fields of wheat.
And we met a not-young couple from Germany who flew to Marrakech and are cycling home, and loving their first cycle tour outside Europe.
