Other than anguishing over visas and bank access, we have done very little in Pristina. Now that we have dropped the last of our documents at the Macedonian embassy, and been interviewed by the Bulgarian embassy, we plan to do a little sightseeing while we await their respective rulings.

There is not much to see in Pristina, but there is one Unesco site in Kosovo comprising four Serbian churches, all of which we hope to visit by bus or train.
In the meantime we did pay a visit to the *NEWBORN monument*, a "typographic sculpture... unveiled on 17 February 2008, the day that Kosovo formally declared its independence from Serbia".
To keep the concept alive, it was stated that the monument would be repainted each year on the independence anniversary. One year it was painted yellow; one year it was painted with the flags of those countries that had recognised Kosovo; on the tenth anniversary, the B was replaced with 1 so the monument read NEW10RN.
This year the letters have been switched around to read NONEWBR - no new Broken Republic. Sadly this year the monument looks a little jaded and has been defaced. If you Google images for it, you will see it has often looked more attractive. It's a nice idea if you keep it up.
