2015 China
17 March,
Yushan
Pengfa Hotel 100CNY
We had
planned to visit a nearby national park today, but given our exhausting day
yesterday we instead slept long and late and lazed away the remaining hours,
booking bus tickets to Wuyuan, our next destination, and planning which routes
to walk in the park tomorrow. With no English spoken in town, both these
exercises took longer than they would under normal circumstances. The Pengfa is
our cheapest hotel in China so far, its chilling showers bearing testament to
its price tag (still twice that of a decent hotel in Vietnam). The shower head
was separated from the shower hose (Charl managed to reunite them), the loo
seat was standing next to the loo, the basin tap was wobbly in its housing, and
the shelf under the mirror hung at a 30 degree angle. There is a strange
phenomenon in Yushan. All the floors are wet and remain wet all day. A heavy
condensation, we assume, with bad ventilation adding insult to injury. But we
lunched and dined well, and rested.
