25 September, Kurucaşile
Tutku Otel 80TL (breakfast included) (negotiated down from 100TL)
Kurucaşile is a town of 1800 with a small
tertiary education facility, something to do with boat-building, we think. There
are lots of young men in town, therefore, and a couple of places serving really
cheap food. We so like our hotel room, and particularly the view of the harbour
from our window, that we decided to stay an extra day. In the harbour are
fishing boats and fishing nets with bright yellow buoys. Also ducks that in the
early morning leap from the pier into the bay to splash and dip before waddling
onto the dark sand to settle there in the intermittent sun before some dog
comes along to disturb them, playfully chasing them back into the sea. Both
yesterday and today we lunched on hot soup, an ideal meal on a chilly day. Yes,
it is chilly ... winter is on its way.
